A masterpiece that sets the standard
The Horseshoe Estate is one of Berlin’s best-known large housing estates and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its horseshoe shape didn’t just give the estate its name. It was also the basis for the GEHAG company logo – and now that of Deutsche Wohnen. GEHAG (Gemeinnützige Heimstätten-, Spar- und Bau-Aktiengesellschaft) also commissioned the famed Bauhaus architects Bruno Taut and Martin Wagner to plan and build this estate.

A colourful architectural gem
The Zehlendorf Forest Estate ("Onkel Toms Hütte"), built between 1926 and 1931 based on designs by architects Bruno Taut, Hugo Häring and Otto Rudolf Salvisberg, belongs to Deutsche Wohnen’s collection of architectural gems. The estate’s buildings and outdoor facilities have been restored in recent years in line with principles of conservation – in the spirit of the original architects’ designs.

“No tenant of Deutsche Wohnen will lose the home as a result of the decision”
With the decision of March 25, 2021, published today, the 2nd Senate of Federal Constitutional Court has declared the so-called Berlin rent cap (MietenWoG Bln) incompatible with the Basic Law and therefore null and void. Deutsche Wohnen SE welcomes the court’s swift decision, as it creates the necessary legal certainty for both tenants and landlords.
