  • Deutsche Wohnen makes good start to financial year 2022

    The business operations of Deutsche Wohnen SE continued to develop positively in the first quarter of 2022. Quarterly earnings after taxes were EUR 236.0 million – 18.2% higher than in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The key driver for this rise was an increase in the value of the property portfolio in the amount of EUR 156.1 million. This revaluation results from an organic development in the value of our holdings and is independent of transaction activity on the German residential property market.

  • Representative survey on corona crisis: Germany’s tenants demand a social contribution from housing companies

    Tenants in Germany feel that housing companies have a duty to make an extensive contribution to dealing with the corona pandemic. In a representative survey conducted by the polling firm Civey, almost two thirds of the respondents (63 per cent) stated that they expect a greater degree of goodwill from their landlord when it comes to rent arrears. And a good half of respondents (51.1 per cent) think that, in general, property and housing companies need to assume greater social responsibility in this crisis.

    Deutsche Wohnen SE made a number of strategic decisions in 2018 to successfully address the future challenges in the housing sector. The company significantly increased its investments to create and maintain housing, with spending on new construction up almost threefold. At the same time Deutsche Wohnen increased its investment in climate-protection measures for its portfolio, in order to make a contribution to the energy transition as a leading German property company. Investments into the digitisation of the company also went up significantly.
