Deutsche Wohnen starts construction of the new Schützengarten residential area in Dresden
Together with Stephan Kühn, mayor of Dresden and cabinet member with responsibility for urban development and transport, Deutsche Wohnen marked the start of construction work on its new-build project Schützengarten with a symbolic first cut of the spade. Over the next three years, a residential area with 479 flats, green spaces, a children’s play area and a neighbourhood park will be built not far from the historic centre of the city. The first tenants are expected to move in in spring 2024.

Neighbourhood art: Berlin Mural Fest 2021
After being cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, the Berlin Mural Festival (BMF) has maked a comeback this year. From 9 August 2021, local street artists brightened the walls of our buildings with their huge murals. It came to an end with a night walk on 4 September.

Living in a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Six Berlin housing estates were made UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2008. Four of these Estates of Berlin Modernism (Siedlungen der Berliner Moderne) are owned by Deutsche Wohnen. The purpose of these world-famous architectural marvels, built in the 1920s and 1930s, was to meet the needs of the people who lived in them. They were designed to offer flexible solutions, built to last. That’s why they still work today.

Deutsche Wohnen presented its concept for socially responsible climate action in the housing sector in Berlin on 7 October 2020 – with research backing from the German Economic Institute. Other researchers and representatives from the world of business and politics who attended praised the proposal as constructive and viable.

Deutsche Wohnen sells around 11,000 residential and commercial units to the State of Berlin
Deutsche Wohnen and the State of Berlin have reached an agreement on the sale of selected properties from the company's portfolio. The agreement, which Deutsche Wohnen has concluded with the three state companies HOWOGE Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH, degewo AG and Berlinovo Immobilien Gesellschaft mbH, comprises the sale of nearly 10,700 residential units and more than 200 commercial units in Berlin.

Deutsche Wohnen sells further flats to municipal housing corporation
Deutsche Wohnen has reached an agreement with the municipal housing corporation degewo concerning the disposal of 41 flats in Berlin-Mitte, with degewo assuming ownership of the residential buildings at Lehrter Straße 39, 39a, 40 and 40a as at 1st July 2021.

Deutsche Wohnen supports 2021 Berlin Mural Fest
For the second time, Deutsche Wohnen is supporting the Berlin Mural Fest (BMF) both financially and by making available walls on its buildings, which then serve as canvasses. Following its cancellation in 2020 due to the pandemic, the art festival is taking place once again this year. The start date of the festival is 9th August. From then on it will be possible to admire the murals as they are being created in the boroughs of Charlottenburg, Mitte, Kreuzberg and Neukölln. On 4th and 5th September, the BMF will officially be brought to a close with a ‘night walk’, on which the finished murals will be illuminated and complemented with projections.
